Claude Burgoyne, M.D., is Van Buskirk Chair for Ophthalmic Research and Director of the Devers Eye Institute Optic Nerve Head (ONH) Research Laboratory in Portland, Oregon.
Prior to moving to Devers, he served as Director of Glaucoma Services at the LSU Eye Center in New Orleans, LA. For the past 23 years his laboratory has been funded by the National Institutes of Health (NIH) to study aging and experimental glaucoma in the non-human primate ONH. Most recently their work has focused on clinically detecting and characterizing the ONH structural alterations of human glaucoma and myopia using Optical Coherence Tomography.
